I love this book. Pitched at beginners it takes you through the basics like preparing your soil (and a great introduction to making your own compost), crop rotation, seeds and planting. There are chapters leading you month-by-month through the year with what to plant, what to eat when (with recipes), projects and crafts to do with the children. This then leads on to a brilliantly informative yet concise A to Z of plants.
Feeling inspired I have now built a compost heap (thanks to a neighbour’s donation of an old wood palette), planted peas and tomatoes. Having had some success with sunflowers last year, we will be trying them again too. With this book in hand, I have faith that we can become a more green fingered family together.
